Do You Know If Your Furnace Is Ready For Winter?

It’s never fun to be in the middle of a cold front and have your furnace break. That's why in this episode we go over the things you can do to prepare for this winter. We start with some of the basics, then we work our way to a few of the more advanced projects.
The first step is to check the thermostat and make sure you know how to set it. Make sure the are is clear around the furnace. Give the unit a once-over while you’re at it, checking for any failed pipes and cleaning out the vents. After that, turn it on and listen for anything that sounds wrong.
If you want to tackle more advanced prep, remember to be careful with the circuitry. Turn off the gas and the power before opening it up to check for dust. Carefully take the burners out and vacuum out the unit, staying AWAY from the igniter. You can check the connections while you’re in there.
If you open your furnace to look at it and feel overwhelmed, it’s a good idea to have a technician take over. Or you might decide you don't want a professional to take care of winter prep for you. In either situation, Any Hour Services would be happy to help. One of our certified HVAC technicians can help get your furnace ready to work hard all season.
