Is Your Electrical Panel Doing Its Job?

Your electrical panel controls all electricity moving through your home. In this episode, we’re discussing a lot of important information about those panels. We’ll talk about old panels, new panels, breakers, and much more. That way you know you can look for to keep your home safe.

Your electrical panel is the core of your electrical system. All the wiring in your home runs through it to the breakers inside. Those breakers control how much power can go through your wires by tripping when they sense too much. That way your wires don’t melt or burn.

That’s where some breaker panels can be dangerous. Some older panels, such as the ones made by Zinsco, often don’t trip when they should. That means you won’t know if you’re trying to pull more power than the circuit can handle. If that continues, that wire can become a serious fire hazard.
We go over more reasons some panels can be dangerous in the video. We also talk about things some people do that can make the problem even worse. If you’re having trouble with your breakers or your panel is hot to the touch, it’s a good idea to call an electrician. Dealing with electricity can be very dangerous, and leaving a problem alone can be even more so.
